NaNoWriMo Progress Report

Yay me!

9 days to spare, and just in the nick of time, I have finished my first draft.

It has been tremendous fun and it's a shame that I don't have the time to utilize the whole 30 day process. Maybe next year eh?

I don't even have time to celebrate because it's 11pm I haven't packed and my friend is coming to pick me up at 6am.

Until next week.

Dream Big or Don't Dream at all.

Thought: I may be a nomad

Blog Challenge: Day 8 - 5 Current Goals

I have a number goals spanning from number of books to read in a year to winning the Nobel Piece Prize - Hey, it could happen - so I'm just going to pick some at random, and of course, give a brief explanation.

1. To live and work in America.

A lot of British people don't understand the appeal, and I have gotten tired of trying to justify my opinions to other people over the years, but let's just say; for what I want to achieve in life, it's the place to be.

2. To visit the New Seven Wonders of the World.

I like to travel and I like ticking things off of a list, plus of course the sights on the list just look phenomenal. I saw a picture of Machu  Picchu and said "There" and I went. One down....

3. To have my own beautiful two bedroom apartment.

I have always dreamed of having my own place, and of course living away at university only helped to keep the dream alive. Sadly in this economic climate and my current employment status, it may be quite a while until I achieve this goal.

4. To write/direct an episode of something Shonda Rhimes related.

As I am sure you all know, Shonda Rhimes is one of my favourite TV Series Creators, the scripts on her shows are pretty damn epic, the minutes long fast talking soliloquy's give you goosebumps and just generally, damn.

Sorry guys, couldn't pick just the one.

So there you have it; five out of God knows how many of my current goals in life.

Blog Challenge: Day 7 - Your 5 Favourite Songs

This is easy enough, but I'm going to make two lists for this post...

All Time Favourites

1. 30 Seconds To Mars - A Beautiful Lie
2. Frank Sinatra - That's Life
3. Fall Out Boy - Hum Hallelujah
4. All Time Low - Lost In Stereo
5. City and Colour - Little Hell

Current Favourites

1. Ariana Grande - One Last Time (Guarantee I have listened to the one hour repeat more than 30 times)
2. Boys 2 Men ft Mariah Carey - One Sweet Day
3. Yungen Ft Sneakbo, Stormzy, Bashy, Angel, Benny Banks, Ghetts, Cashtastic - Ain't On Nuttin' (Don't ask)
4. Justin Bieber - Sorry
5. Leona Lewis - Collide

Eclectic does not even begin to describe.

Annoyed Beyond Belief

Well annoyed isn't even the right word for where my head is right now.

I had an appointment this afternoon which I now can't make due to a freak accident, and having nobody to blame makes me even more annoyed as there is nowhere to channel it.

I can't even concentrate on writing and I feel even more scattered than usual, and in another cruel twist of fate; I can feel myself getting sick. Which is just fan-fucking-tabulous.

I heed the words of All Time Low - Weightless to pull me through these dark and difficult times.

Maybe it's not my weekend
But it's going to be my year.

People trust my film opinions.

I never really noticed it before but I definitely feel a sense of power and responsibility in line with all the greats; Spiderman, The Flash, Batman, The Green Arrow etc.

Blog Challenge: Day 6 - What Are You Afraid Of?

I ain't scared of nothin' and no one.

Seriously I have no fears. And I'm not saying that to be brave. Maybe I just haven't come across what I'm scared of.

I guess I'm afraid of water, but that's because I can't swim so that's completely rational.... because I could die. That being said that still hasn't stopped me stepping into the shallow end of the pool or dipping my feet into the ocean.

I did use to be scared of owls for a while. But that was after watching an episode called The Library in Avatar: The Last Airbender, where in a large owl attacked them. That shit was not natural man.

Tell me that's not scary? It's giving me the willies just looking at it. Yowza!

A moment of procrastination

Just to say that it's sweet that people send me jobs that I should apply to, but at the same time it can be annoying.

They either send me something that has nothing to do with what I'm looking for which begs two questions; Do you not listen when I speak? and What are you trying to tell me, to give up?

or sometimes people send me links to jobs that I do want to apply for, but that begs the question; Why do you think that I'm not already aware of this advertisement?

I have my system of looking and checking for jobs, and every one that someone has sent me I have already seen and made the decision of whether or not to apply.

If I were talking to my sister she would tell me to relax because people are just trying to be nice, and that I shouldn't get so worked up.

But I'm not getting worked up, like I said in the beginning, it's sweet that they do as people are normally out for themselves. I think it's got more to do with my interest in understanding how people think, and I'm just procrastinating from writing, and it was just a flickering thought.

Shut up I just saw a TED talk about "multi-potentialites" as if I haven't been saying the same thing for at least a year,

Forget TED, people should just read my blog!

I am currently 10,000 words deep, which is one fifth of the way through.

Blog Challenge: Day 4 - Your Dream Job

Funny this was the next question considering the last post I made.

Right. My dream job is to be a TV Series Creator.

Well I say dream job, but it's more like one goal out of five.

Here are my favourite TV Series Creators;

Amy Sherman-Palladino who created the wondrous Gilmore Girls and the unappreciated Bunheads.

Shona Rhimes, (obviously), who penned Greys Anatomy and Scandal

Aaron Sorkin, who has been added after I watched the first season of The Newsroom.

About A Year Ago (Year Ago)

Being the beginning of November, I have been thinking back to where I was this time last year, which was incredibly tan after South America and looking forward to getting graduation done and over with.

Other than that, not a lot as changed over the years, I am still unemployed, living at home and devastatingly gorgeous. :)

On further reflection however - because if there's one thing I love to do, it's reflect - I realised that although I may physically look like I'm in the same place, mentally I am not.

Contrary to popular belief and the turmoil facing most graduates; I know exactly what I want to accomplish, I know exactly which routes to take, and I have projects I am constantly working on. The issue is the glaring lack of money due to unemployment, but that is a minor set back, because if I had a full time job, I would constantly be complaining that I need time off to just think and do (as I basically complained for most of the summer) so my casual job is working out for in the meantime.

My mind is clear and as focused as it can be for a creative, and although I may not 100% be doing what I want, I have a self realised direction, and purpose after coming out of university with a vague sense of what I was supposed to do after my degree.

The Mandatory Stand Off

There's this thing that most black girls do when they first meet in most public situation.

They completely ignore each other. They talk around one another to a third or fourth party but not directly to one another.

Then after either many hours, or the following day; The fun begins.

All it takes is for one of them to probe just a little bit then; bam. You find out that you have a lot in common and just catch jokes. The way you started out is forgotten and life goes on.

It's weird, and it's a little funny, but that's the way it is.

Happy National Novel Writing Month!

In the month of November 300,000 people all over the world put pen to paper and have just one month to write 50,000 words.

There is no prize but your own sense of achievement, and for all the budding writers in the world it's a great opportunity to force structure into your open ended goal of writing the next greatest American Novel, (as it were).

I remember coming across the competition mid November last year, and saving the link to remind myself to compete this year, and here we are. (Oh how time has flown).

Anyway that's all I've got time to say as this acted as my interlude for today's writing session.

1000 words down and 660 words to go for today if I want to stay on track.

Wish me luck bitches.

Blog Challenge: Day 3 - Your Favourite Quote

Hmmmmm I know it just asked for one, but I would have to go with the following four.

Ours is not to reason why, ours is but to do or die - Alfred Lord Tennyson

Get Busy Living or Get Busy Dying - The Shawshank Redemption

I'm alright in bed but I'm better with a pen - Fall Out Boy: Fame < Infamy

That's life - Frank Sinatra

Unless clearly stated or quoted otherwise, everything on here is of my own life mind and thoughts and so I would appreciate if you intend to copy anything, please reference either the blog name, post title etc by form or a link. Thank you.
